Sue Willison ….A Bedturning Event

Join us for an exchanting afternoon celebrating the Allegany County Historical Society’s quilt collection. Come to learn about American quilting and a prominent fabric line from the area. Discover the legacy of this influential fabric with historian Sue Willison. The day’s reservations include a dessert reception with our presenter.

A curated selection of over 30 quilts with timeless designs will be seen. Expert collector-oriented commentary to explore the artistry and patterns inspired by the American quilting movement. As each quilt is unveiled, we will delve into its individual history and exquisite craftsmanship - painting a story of life and work of a community quilter.

Sue is a scholar, researcher, lecturer, consultant and curator and has made significant contributions to the quilting world. Her passion for teaching and enthusiasm on the subject has inspired countless individuals, instilling a deeper appreciation for historic quilts.

She is a member of the American Quilt Study Group, Haymarket Quilt Guild, Springfield Quilt Guild, SAQA, The Appliqué Society, Quilt Alliance, Artistic Artifacts Creative Minds, The QuiltShow, Textile Talks and Academy for Virtual Teaching. Sue recently helped open a Textile Academy in Europe for Bulgarian and Ukraine refugees to improve the quality of their lives. The program is designed to improve their economic life and reduce sex trafficking.
