About this Event
Friday 30th January & Friday 6th Februay 7-8:15pm
If you often feel disconnected from your body, stuck in overthinking, or constantly stressed, working with movement instead of talking about anxiety might be more supportive for you.
Rather than analysing anxiety, we work with the body. Anxiety can show up as tightness, restlessness, shallow breathing, or feeling on edge. These sessions are designed to use gentle, guided movement and somatic exercises to help your body release tension and feel a little bit safer from the inside.
Across the two sessions, you'll explore simple somatic and creative movement that supports the nervous system to slow down and organise itself, without forcing relaxation or pushing through anything. Over time, this can help to give you choice in how anxiety is felt and responded to in the body.
To be clearn, this isn’t a fitness class or a dance class and you don’t need any movement experience.
The focus is on awareness, regulation, and gentle exploration. You can move at your own pace, within your own limits, and there will be plenty of time to pause or rest whenever you need.
What to expect
• Slow, supportive movement and exercises designed to calm and ground
• Simple, repetitive patterns that help the nervous system settle
• Creative movement to notice how anxiety shows up physically
• Time to integrate through rest, reflection, drawing, or journalling
• A consistent and contained group across both weeks
There is no pressure to perform or share personal stories. You’re always welcome to modify or opt out of any movement.
Who this is for
• People experiencing anxiety or ongoing stress
• Anyone who feels disconnected from their body
• If you're curious about body-based or somatic approaches
• If traditional exercise feels like too much right now
Important to know
This series is trauma-informed and grounded in somatic and dance movement therapy principles. It is an educational and based around psychotherapeutic principles but is not a replacement for mental health care.
If you’re currently navigating significant mental health challenges, it’s important to have appropriate support alongside this work.
Client feedback:
"The Somatic sessions with Robyn were amazing. She asked questions at the start to know what to work on and tailored each session to my needs. She demonstrated the movements clearly and explained how they impact the body, while also teaching me how to practice them on my own at home. She always listened closely and adapted the sessions based on what I needed that day. The sessions helped me feel calmer, more connected to my body, and taught me how to move purposefully to reassociate. Months later, I still use techniques when I need to calm down or feel more centred. I highly recommend doing sessions with Robyn!" - 1-1 Somatic Therapy Client - S
"It was great to try something new, I slept so well afterwards." - Somatics Class Attendee
"Robyn is really good at ensuring I feel safe and comfortable during sessions which I feel was really important. I also appreciate her always reminding me that no movements are wrong and I can move however I want. Really good and helped me attune to my body again." 1-1 Somatic Therapy Client - C
