ABOUT THIS EVENT
During this two-week programme in The Cabin at Lairg & District Learning Centre you will develop your pottery skills and make some bird-related items to take home!
Wednesdays, 4th & 11th December 2024, 10am - 12noon.
Our tutor will walk you through the steps to crafting your own unique item during this 2 week taster session.
You will have the opportunity to experiment with different tools and glazes to make your own unique pieces. Lisa will guide you through each step of the process, providing tips and tricks to help you improve your skills.
By the end of the course, you will have handmade pottery pieces to take home and show off to your friends and family.
So come join us for a fun and relaxing experience, and unleash your inner artist!

SCHEDULE:
Week 1: Introduction to pottery & important health and safety practice in the studio.
Make your own bird-related pottery, whether it be a bowl, dish, sculpture, pot - feel free to create something wonderful under Lisa's guidance!
-Lisa will take your items away to fire, and be ready for your return on week 2.
Week 2: How to decorate and use oxides and glazes to create your own unique piece of work.
Once again, Lisa will take your items away to fire. These will then be ready for collection just before Christmas.

ABOUT FLIGHT PATH:
Through a combination of creative writing workshops, lectures, immersive walks and various mediums of art, we hope to raise awareness and a comprehensive understanding of how climate change is altering the behaviour and distribution of bird species worldwide.
ABOUT THE FUNDER
Lairg and District Learning Centre, along with 8 other centres throughout Scotland, are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Scottish Government's £272k Climate Engagement Fund (CEF).
The fund has been set up to increase Climate Change awareness and action in local communities through various activities such as community workshops, podcasts and green festivals, which will be supported from the latest round of Scottish Government funding.

THE CABIN
Located in our grounds, this Scandinavian log cabin is perfect for arts and crafts, with great light. It is fitted out with four woodworking stations, which pack away, making it suitable for other uses, such as outdoor classes and meetings.
