2-Day Pottery Workshop: Christmas Ornaments

About this Event

This workshop occurs on two days:

Wednesday, 11/5 from 1:00pm-3:00pm and
Wednesday, 11/19 from 1:00pm-3:00pm

Students will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginner through advanced skill level. Students can anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium and guidance to create a finished product.

Day 1 of this course will cover a basic introduction to slab building to create you project, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6).

To create the ornaments, decorative techniques using stamps, cookie cutters, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may bring their own decorative tools, including but not limited to cookie cutters, to create personalized ornaments! Each student will make approximately 6-12 ornaments, as time allows.

The second day of this course will take place two weeks later, as the pieces will need to slowly dry, and be bisque fired prior to glazing. During the second day, the student will glaze their piece using premixed coyote, amaco or mayco glazes supplied by Gloria.

The pieces will then be kiln fired by the instructor and then the students will be called once the pieces are available to pick up at the store, within 1-2 weeks after glazing (the second day).

Ticket Cost: $65, materials and supplies (clay, glazing, pottery tools, & decorative tools) included.

The students will leave the course with an understanding of clay as a medium, an understanding of the hand building technique, and glaze fired finished piece.

Class tickets are only refundable if the refund is requested before the date of the purchased class. Tickets purchased through Eventbrite will only be refunded for the class ticket cost, minus the online processing fees due to changes in Eventbrite policies. After the class date, a credit will be issued, redeemable in store for another class.
