Communities for Children Frankston is hosting a full 2 Day, Face to Face Facilitator training run by Wellbeing for Kids, which equips participants to deliver 'Peaceful Kids'- a Mindfulness Meditation Program for Children.
Day 1 of the training will include:
- Practical and Easy to learn mindfulness meditations and exercises to use with groups of children (including in classrooms)
- Theory and proven benefits of mindfulness
- How to use mindfulness to support anxious and stressed children
- How to train other staff members or children in the techniques
- A range of simple, yet powerful techniques that staff can implement immediately
- Creative approaches to incorporating mindfulness into settings such as classrooms
- How to create your own mindfulness practice to reduce stress levels
- Full electronic resources to use with groups of children
Day 2 of the training will include:
- How to best support children with anxiety and low resilience through the 8 week Peaceful Kids intervention program
- Hands on activities to thoroughly understand the Peaceful Kids weekly program and to confidently lead a group of children
- Identify suitable children for the program and understanding anxiety in children
- Using positive psychology exercises with children/ students
- Engaging parents throughout the program for successful outcomes
- Leading a parent information session on anxiety and the Peaceful Kids Program
The Peaceful Kids Program was created by Georgina Manning, Director of Wellbeing for Kids to support children and teens who have low resilience, anxiety or high stress or to support children during a stressful period of their lives. After completing the training facilitators will be able to lead a small group intervention program at their school or organization to support primary or secondary aged students in need.
Peaceful Kids is an 8 week Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based, education program that is developmentally appropriate and gives children the skills, practice and support to use coping strategies that reduce anxiety and stress. The program can be run by wellbeing coordinators, teachers, leaders , counsellors and other mental health and community development professionals.
The training will be fully catered and places will be strictly limited to only 25 participants hence there is a limit of 2 people from each school/ organization/ group. Registrations are essential.
