This introduction to Leather Tooling is a 2 day, 6 hour class. The first day of class will include learning to use many of the basic leather tooling tools, starting with a bit of practice and then jumping into tooling a notebook cover. In the first class, students will learn to read a pattern, use a swivel knife, bevelers, pear shaders, leaf liners, veiners, backgrounders & a stop while completing an Oak and Wild Rose tooling pattern. Time permitting, students will have to option to apply color (of their choice) to their notebooks. On day two, students may apply color (optional), antique, finish edges, punch holes and string to secure notebooks.
All tools and materials will be provided; however, students may bring
their own tools, if they desire. Space is limited, so register early.
Note: This is the first time this tooling class is being offered. If need be, the students may opt for the class to run long, or come in during the following week to catch-up. If students finish up early, we will tackle some leather feathers!
This discounted class is made possible through βArt for Challenging Times,β a grant generously funded by the John Ben Snow Foundation.
