Join us for a FREE 2-day gravestone preservation workshop will run Saturday 4/27 + Sunday 4/28 from 9am-3pm.This event is funded by the Tennessee Historical Commission in collaboration with the African American Cemetery Preservation Fund.
Jonathan Appell, expert monument conservator will lead this 2-day event. The workshop will encompass the basics of cemetery conservation. We will address common concerns in preservation and maintenance of cemeteries and offer hands-on training with participation encouraged. Learn the most effective techniques in cleaning, making basic repairs, and the leveling and straightening of gravestones.
On street parking is available on Ridgeside Road. The cemetery is within walking distance. All materials will be supplied. Lunch is on your own.
What to wear: comfortable work clothes and appropriate footwear such as boots or sneakers. No open toed shoes!
