2/24: Writing Workshop Event #2 with Austin Channing Brown

Austin Channing Brown, author of the recent biography Full of Myself: Black Womanhood and the Journey to Self-Possession, will join us at Booksweet for the second session in her winter-spring writing workshop series!

Your Inside Voice: writing workshops with Austin Channing Brown, hosted by Booksweet

Austin will be hosting an ongoing writing workshop series in 2026, with monthly meetings at Booksweet beginning in January! The workshop schedule will be: January 27, February 24, March 24, and April 28.

There is a voice inside your heart that only you can hear. Whenever you sit down to write, that voice rises to meet you. It chooses words, reaches for phrases, and creates meaning. The more you write, the more you learn to recognize your inside voice. And that's when the fun begins. When you learn to listen to that voice, embrace that voice you can create entire worlds that never existed before you set pen to paper. I want to help you honor your inside voice. Every fourth Tuesday from 6:00-7:30pm (except December) we'll meet at Booksweet to hone our craft together. Each workshop focuses on a different element of writing, and are stand alone. So you don't have to attend the first one to understand the second one.

Workshop #2

Structure and Intention

Every sentence has a role to play in your story. In this workshop, we will look at the function of sentences and the intention you bring to each one. *Bring to class one copy of your favorite piece of writing, just one paragraph long.
