DJ Hong (Philadelphia, SF, S. Korea) presents the 1st SF Salsa Vinyl Expo at the 14th SF Salsa Festival! Over 15 salsa DJs, collectors and afficionados will take turns presenting and sharing their collection of salsa music on vinyl records at the beautiful SFO Marriott Waterfront.
Date: Saturday, March 23
Location: SFO Marriott Waterfront, Burlingame CA
Time: 4 PM - 9 PM PDT
Cost: Free to the public - however, to attend other events at the SF Salsa Festival you must buy tickets at sfsalsafestival.com
Theme: “For the Dancers” - salsa dura, salsa romantica, mambo, pachanga, son cubano, guaracha, guaguanco, montuno, boogaloo, chachacha. As long as it’s good for the dance floor!

How does it work?
* Presenters take turns one at a time.
* They will present the artist, title of the song and album, as well as any interesting facts or history about the artist or recording.
* Then they play the song for the room’s enjoyment.
* The process then repeats, with the next presenter, and so on until, then the first presenter starts the next round.
* Other participants (friends, family, passers-by) are welcome to sit and listen or to dance on the dancefloor provided.
Who is this event for?
* Salsa music lovers - come and enjoy both classic and rare salsa played on vinyl records, accompanied with interesting facts, history and culture shared by the presenters
* Dancers - there will be a dance floor so that you can get your groove on to the music! Keep in mind that this is not a dance social so expect breaks between songs - and to learn something new about the music!

Q: Do I have to pay to enter this event?
A: No, the SF Vinyl Expo is free, BUT: in order to attend any San Francisco Salsa Festival dance workshops, or the evening performances, or the Tromboranga concert, you MUST have tickets/festival pass. Go to sfsalsafestival.com to get your tickets.
Q: Can I bring my friends/family/loved ones?
A: Yes! Remember that in order to attend the other SF Salsa Festival events, the must get tickets/festival passes.
Q: Can I dance at this event?
A: Yes, you can! There will be a (small) dance floor. However, it is more of a lecture/listening event, so there will be speakers between each and every song.
Q: Will there be any bachata/ cumbia/ reggaeton/ merengue?
A: No, there will only be salsa.
Q: I want to present some music! How do I get involved?
A: Contact Hong Kwon or DJ Hong directly.
Q: I am a CD/Digital DJ! Can I present?
A: Sorry, this event is solely for salsa on vinyl records.
Rules for Presenters
1. To ensure the best sound quality and experience for everyone, please bring only good condition records and clean your records before arriving.
2. Legal/authorized re-issues are allowed, including modern presses such as the new Fania releases. However, no illegal re-issues (e.g. recent Colombian manufactured re-issues of 1960s-1970s guaguanco records) will be allowed to be played.
3. Please be ready to play when it is your turn. If you are not present in the room, your turn will be skipped for that round.
