About this Event
Join us on Saturday, March 29, from 10 AM to 3 PM for a colonial market and encampment on the grounds of the Varnum House Museum in East Greenwich, RI. This one-day event is co-sponsored and hosted by the Varnum House Museum and Steven's Independent Artillery, and will feature a colonial “mini-encampment”, historic and community vendors, tours of the museum and its grounds, and a lot more!
We'll put on Revolutionary War displays and demonstrations, including interactive lessons on loading and operating 18th-century artillery. This event will also provide opportunities to join Steven's Independent Artillery and Varnum's Historic Regiment!
In addition to community vendors, period artisan vendors will include home goods, textile and fabric, coffee making, and metal work. This event will also feature the soft launch of the Varnum House Museum's “Preservation Gardens” program, which will provide both science and history knowledge on the use of plants during the Revolutionary War period, in addition to providing perspectives on the significance of plants, botany, and gardening to diverse cultures at the time.
For more details or questions, email [email protected] or call 401-884-1776. The rain date for this event is Sunday, March 30 from 10 AM to 3 PM.
