In keeping with the Advancing Sickle Cell Advocacy Project, Inc. (A.S.A.P), mission, “bringing awareness and educating the community, advocating on behalf of sickle cell warriors” we will be hosting our 1st Annual Kevin J. Francis Memorial Scholarship and Awards Luncheon on Sunday, June 23, 2024, 1:30pm - 4pm, at the Miami Shores Country Club, 10000 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL., 33138.
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Kevin Javon Francis; one of our own advocates and a beloved sickle cell warrior who passed away in 2011 at the age of 23, while admirably pursuing his education despite experiencing numerous hardships and setbacks due to his illness. His tenacity to earn a degree in spite of his struggles with sickle cell disease did not go in vain. To that end, the Kevin J. Francis Memorial Scholarship was born to assist sickle cell warriors financially to further their education. We will also be recognizing our service heroes who are instrumental in making a difference within the sickle cell community.
