Why bareroot and not potted plants? Plants from the field usually harbor weeds, in fact, gifted plants from friends' flowerbeds is how most new gardeners end up with noxious plagues like bindweed and thistle. The plants are cheaper because you are not paying for the pot and soil. Another issue with potted plants is that they often have either just been potted up and in transplant shock or they've been in the pot too long. Bareroot plants should be soaked in water for an hour or so prior to their immediate planting, watered in, and shaded for 1 day if possible to avoid transplant shock. Everything at the sale is extrememly hardy so there should be few loses. We hope to see you there have a look at my citrus house, the new weathervane, some solutions to troublesome weedy areas, and take a picture in the big Adirondack chair.
