About this Event
Demonic possession, Satan worship, vampirism, and nuns! These are just some of the things you'll see on screen when you join us for a screening of the 1977 Mexican supernatural horror film Alucarda. Loosely based on the novella Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu this adaptation is directed by Juan López Moctezuma and stars Tina Romero, Claudio Brook, Susana Kamini, and David Silva.
Admired by Guillermo Del Toro, the film has been noted for its exploration of national tradition versus modernity, and the tensions between science and religion. It is widely regarded as one of the best Mexican horror films ever made.
With a curated pre-show. Costumes are welcomed and encouraged! Host: Derek M.
