Info: Ryan Sinkleris, a 22-year old with autism, and his father Andy share their stories about navigating the world from an autistic point of view. Through their real-life experiences and anecdotes, the father and son duo give participants a look at the world through the eyes of someone with autism, and offer advice on the best ways to deal with children and adults on the autism spectrum in various situations.

Info: A panel of trainers and public safety departments will discuss what is involved in implementing a Comfort/Therapy Dog program. From administrative hurdles to costs to community reception, our panel, along with their four legged partners will provide an overview of this useful resource in response to crisis situations.

Info: Threat assessment teams have become commonplace on college campuses; however, there is still confusion about threat assessment and management procedures and a team’s composition and role. This session will provide historical context for the teams, their roles and responsibilities, research and trends, and the importance of collaboration between key departments.

Info: Chief Daran Dodd from the University of North Carolina Asheville Campus will provide an impactful presentation on the campus and community response and recovery to Hurricane Helene that devastated the area in September of 2024.
