About this Event
Looking for something fun to do on a Friday night? Want to benefit a great cause? Look no further! Join us for a fun night of comedy to benefit Nature and Nurture! This is a great local cause, website and mission here: https://www.nurtureandnature.org/. Mission statement:
Nurture and Nature’s mission statement reflects who we are as a center: “In partnership with families, we as an educational community, foster learning in a nurturing, supportive, child-centered environment immersed in nature. We teach, respect, and celebrate diversity, individuality, and the whole child.” We strive each day to teach and embrace differences, spending each month focusing on a different country and culture from around the world.
As the name of the center suggests, we embrace Nature in our everyday lessons. Woods Wednesday and Forest Friday are some of the children’s favorite days. On these days they are free to explore the wooded areas outside of our playground. Children love climbing on low fallen trees, making forts out of branches, collecting multi-colored leaves, finding a variety of insects/bugs, and learning to respect nature.
Not only do they learn about nature, but they learn the importance of teamwork, self-evaluation as they think about risk assessment before climbing to balance on a log, and respecting wildlife (even if it is just a bug).
They learn to embrace all kinds of weather as they splash in muddy puddles in the Spring, make snow angels in the Winter, rake and jump in piles of leaves in the Fall, and race through the sprinkler on hot Summer days.
Currently, four of our teachers hold Nature-Based teaching certifications through the Eastern Regional Association of Forest and Nature Schools. Nearly all of our teachers hold state credentials, four of whom have Infant Toddler Specialized Competencies. Between the 16 teachers we have on staff, we have almost 185 years of experience teaching, of which 70 years’ worth are from Nurture and Nature itself!
This show is produced by Moccia Comedy Productions, which has raised nearly $100,000 in just over 2 years for local charities from Rhode Island to Northern Vermont! Our comedians perform all over New England and are ready to bring the laughs. Your comedians for the evening are:
Headliner, Amy Tee, featuring Jack Burke and Jack Lynch.
