Please join me in rememberance of my late husband, Scott Johnson on the 18th anniversary of his death. Guests are invited to share pictures and momentos of their own loved ones who have passed at the communal shrine. Costumes are strongly encouraged. This year our gathering will be held in the Barrel Room at TF Brewing. Please note: attendees must be 21 or older. Tacos Costa Grande will be serving up street tacos as well as other Mexican and nontraditional fare in their food truck in front of the Brewery. https://www.tacoscostagrande.com
There are also some snacks available at the Brewery including curated cheeses, pickled imports, locally-baked pretzels and gourmet nuts. TF Brewing specializes in traditional lager beers, barrel-aged beers, IPA’s, Sour Beers, and more. They have a small rotating selection of wine/cider and spirits. Their craft cocktail list also includes a Parisian Margarita with Elderflower and Hibiscus and a floral Sangria made with Pomegranate and Elderflower liqueurs. There will be fire pits (and a smoking section) on the back patio. https://tfbrewing.com
There are two small parking lots at the Brewery. Uber and Lyft is recommended. There is also free street parking available on American Ave next to the venue, and across the street on Layette Ave (975 S 300 W). Parking at Big O Tires next door is permitted during closed business hours only and at HK Brewing a couple blocks south of the venue. Do not park in the Trails Parking lot across the street—towing is strictly enforced there.
Thank you to Lori Mertz for helping our special event find a new venue after many memorable years at The Garage on Beck, and especially to the Templin Family for hosting our group this year. We are so grateful!
Set up help will be needed from 2-4 pm on the day of the event, and any help with break down at the end of the event would be greatly appreciated.
Day of the Dead (El Dia de los Muertos), or All Souls Day, is a Mexican and Latin American Holiday which focuses on gathering to remember the friends, family and ancestors who have passed. Traditions include building altars honoring the deceased, decorating with marigolds and sugar skulls, and serving the favorite foods and drinks of the dearly departed.
