“Bacon Wars - May the Bacon be with You!”
The renowned Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is gearing up for its 16th-anniversary celebration, set to take place on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. The bacon extravaganza will unfold within the historic confines of the Agricultural Building at the Iowa StateFairgrounds.
This year, the festival embraces the force with its theme - “Bacon Wars - May the Bacon be with You!”
The choice of a Star Wars-themed event has been a long-cherished idea for the festival organizers.
Brooks Reynolds, Founder of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, shared his excitement about aligning the date with the theme, saying, “A Star Wars-themed event has always been a thought for one of our themes for many years. We decided to move the date up a week, to not conflict with college graduations, and May 4th was the date. It seemed like the force wielded its power to have these two great things align.”
Jeremy Parsons, CEO of the Iowa State Fair, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the festival, stating, “The Iowa State Fairgrounds is excited to host the 16th Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival once again and be the home of one of the oldest and largest bacon festivals in the world.”
The event promises a sizzling lineup of activities, including bacon-themed vendors, live entertainment, and much more. The Main Stage will be rocking to the tunes of The Pork Tornadoes,
The Midwest’s Premiere Party Band. Attendees can also enjoy a spacey vibed Cantina, Iowa Craft Beer, themed bars, High Noon hydration stations, Silent Disco, Wookie Ax Throwing, and a myriad of other weird and wacky space-themed attractions.
