The syllabus and criteria of the training meets and satisfies the correct requirement for the outdoor learning and National Governing Body awards for outdoor education. Usual attendees are outdoor education leaders, activity instructors, mountain leaders as well as walking guides and nature therapists.
This is very practical course where learners are taught and tested on many potential illnesses and injuries they may face in the outdoors and over the 2 days are assessed on the learnt knowledge which builds confidence to face emergency situations.
As a veteran owned training company, the trainers have an extensive range of outdoor experience which goes above and beyond the usual first aid training courses. We believe that learners who attend should be leaving feeling confident and actually learn about managing incidents rather than ticking the box.
This is our most popular course, running regularly at our Haytor location on Dartmoor. The 2-day, hands-on course meets the first aid requirements of Mountain Training UK, British Canoeing, British Cycling, and the British Caving Association among other awarding bodies. That makes it ideal for Mountain Leaders, Rock Climbing Instructors, Mountain Bike leaders and paddle sport leaders and coaches. The course is also suitable for outdoor enthusiasts wanting to improve their skills.
The course is delivered over two days where learners will be assessed throughout on many topics. There is a continuous assessment process where all learners will be required to demonstrate learnt knowledge with a casualty. As this is a very practical course, learners will be required to participate in all hands-on training, provide CPR on their knees and be completely confident when outside. Day two will end with a multiple-choice question paper.
Certificates:
Certificates for 16 Hours Outdoor First Aid are valid for three years, learners will receive the certificate usually within 1 week after the course.
