RASASH are hosting an interactive community film screening as part of the 16 Days of Activism on Wednesday 27th of November at Velocity Cafe. All are welcome to come along for this evening of activism, community connections and crafting. 🎞

Tickets for this event are FREE and include all resources needed for crafting your Feminist Christmas Cards!

More info on the event below... ⬇

As part of the event, we will be screening the 30-minute BBC ALBA Documentary ‘It Does Happen Here’ which explores gender-based violence in rural Scotland. 🎞
â–ª Community engagement lead at RASASH, Lindsay Linning, who is among those featured in the documentary, will introduce the film. The documentary is headed both by people living in rural communities across Scotland who have shared their stories of surviving sexual violence and those working in essential services to support survivors through their work and activism.

▪ There will be an opportunity to take part in an informal chat and Feminist Christmas Card session, led by artist Cat Meighan. The theme for this year’s 16 Days, is ‘Imagining a Scotland without gender-based violence’ and conversations will be centred on how we as a community respond to sexual violence and the specific challenges people face when getting support in rural areas, with our outreach support worker Laura, and our prevention worker, Emma, sharing their input.

The evening will be relatively informal and is a space for community members to create together, contribute where you’d like, and connect through awareness raising and hopeful activism.

Tickets are free, and so are all resources for crafting which will be provided, alongside some goodies to take away with you... Plus a slice of GF/Vegan cake! Donations are encouraged if you’d like to, but there is no pressure to do so.

If you’d like to buy a cosy drink, a member of the Velocity team will be there to serve all things tea and coffee! ☕

To sign up for a ticket, simply follow the link in this event page to Eventbrite to reserve a spot. 🎟

You should get a couple of emails prior to the event, just a reminder, and some inspiration to get your ideas flowing for Christmas Card Making...
