The 15th Annual Talanoa Series @ CCSF, featuring Tongan Artist, Va’eomatoka “Toka” Valu, will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Ocean Campus of the City College of San Francisco. Toka's talk, “The Art of ‘oc-Tā-Vā-l’ (octaval) Progression: Eight (8) Stages of Artistic Growth,” will walk us through various junctures of his life—through his art practice—that mark for him Tongan identity formations that weave together his upbringing, immigrant experience, cultural agency, and self-empowerment.
