The Phoenixville Fire Department will celebrate its 150th Anniversary, in conjunction with the Dogwood Festival and Parade, on Armed Services Day, Saturday, May 18th beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The Dogwood Festival starts on Wednesday, May 15th and culminates with the Parade on Saturday, May 18th. At the conclusion of the parade, fire companies and other emergency services organizations will reassemble at the Phoenixville Fire Department located at 150 Paradise Street for a formal ceremony to commemorate the 150th Anniversary, along with presenting parade awards. The public is welcomed to join in these festivities at the fire station beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The celebration will honor the dedicated service of Phoenix, Hose, Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 (PHH&L) that was founded in 1874. PHH&L continues to provide selfless volunteers from the Borough of Phoenixville and surrounding communities that support the Phoenixville Fire Department. The full-time and part-time staff of the Department will also be recognized during this momentous occasion.
The parade route will start in the area of the Phoenixville Fire Department on Paradise Street heading east on Smithworks Blvd, making a right onto Main St and continuing south to Fifth Avenue. The parade is rain or shine. The public is invited to attend and line the parade route to view the apparatus and other parade attendees.
The public is asked to avoid Paradise Street between Center Street and Smithworks Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. as there will be a high volume of emergency vehicles and other parade vehicles being staged in the area.
