This is an informal event that started on January 1, 2011, with a small, intrepid group of New Year's Day runners/swimmers. Sadly, in 2014, one of our original runners/swimmers, young Hayden Keating, passed away suddenly on December’s 30th, two days before he was planning to run with us again. In a huge outpouring of compassion and love, his family, friends and classmates turnout to take his place in the run and swim. So now we run in his memory. Once again this year, we will gather at the monument on Parade Plaza at noon, New Year's Day. If you will be walking, please plan to start your walk promptly at noon or before, to get a head start on the runners. We would like to all rendezvous together for the swim. The runners will step off around 12:30. We will take a liesurely jog along the river for a jump in the water, somewhere along the beaches between Guthrie Place and Jerome Rd. The route is South Water Street to Bank Street to Howard Street to Pequot Avenue. If you're just in for the swim, we'll join up with you at the beach around 1:00 p.m.. So, if you're not into the jog portion, meet at the beach for the swim. We had bicycles join us the last couple years also. In fact, we usually have a Segway join us.
