Join us, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 for VA's 2K Walk & Roll event starting at Milwaukee VA's Lake Wheeler pavilion. This is a free, self-paced, two-kilometer (1.24 miles) walk on Milwaukee VA campus with rolling start times.
This event is open to Veterans and employees.
There will be wellness activities, resource tables, music and food vendor options.
The annual VA2K event encourages people to live active lifestyles and allows participants to support homeless Veterans through voluntary donations of cleaning items, storage containers or monetary donations. The VA2K Walk & Roll event is presented by the Employee Whole Health Program and inspires Veterans and VA Staff to live healthier lifestyles and reduce preventable injuries and illnesses.
Event details for Milwaukee VAMC:
• Stop by Wheeler Pavilion between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to register
• 1K and 2K walking route
• Employees receive a wellness incentive giveaway item.
• Wellness and homeless prevention resource information
• Music by Jonny T-Bird and the MPs
• Taqueria La Vecindad Taco Truck and Sweet Delight kettle corn will be onsite, selling food and refreshments
• Use #VA2K and post your images to your social media accounts.
• Voluntary donation drive: In 2023, Milwaukee VA housed 387 Veterans experiencing homelessness. This year, the VA2K donation goal is 657 items for Veterans engaged in Homeless Prevention Program services. Donations can be dropped off at the bus located at the pavilion or at Voluntary Service office 70-C-16 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on May 15. Suggested items include, but are not limited to, all-purpose household cleaner, laundry soap, storage containers (any size), dryer sheets, laundry baskets, dish-washing soap, WISGO Cards-Bus Fare.
• Lake Wheeler parking will be closed on May 15.
Event details for Green Bay VA:
• The Walk & Roll 2K (1.24 miles) can be completed anytime on May 15.
• The mapped walking route is 2.2 laps around the Milo C. Huempfner VA healthcare Center.
• VA Whole Health will offer a resource table for Veterans and staff 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
• Event includes wellness and homeless prevention resource information.
• Free raffle ticket for those that sign up.
• Homeless program donations will be accepted at the VA2K sign up tables located just outside the VA Canteen.
Event details for Appleton VA:
• The Walk & Roll 2K (1.24 miles) can be completed at any time on May 15th. The mapped walking route is around the John H. Bradley VA Clinic and route will be outlined day of walk.
• VA resources will be available for Veterans, VA employees and community partners
• Wellness and homeless prevention program information
• Voluntary donations for the VA Homeless Programs can be dropped off at a table by event registration. Suggested items: Personal Hygiene Products, Cleaning Supplies, Clothing
Event details for Union Grove VA:
• Bring your walking shoes, and meet at Fairchild to start the walk
• Voluntary donations can be dropped off the start area
