Mark your calendars for Friday, Sept. 26 for the 14th Annual IFS Rain-or-Shine #PolaWalk at the State Fair of Texas as PolaCon returns for our 10th PolaCon in North Texas — where IFS was founded and PolaCon began.
Join us for a day of fun and community as we celebrate instant film photography in one of the most photogenic Art Deco locations remaining in the U.S. (For those who don’t know: Fair Park is one of the largest surviving Art Deco complexes. The park, opened in 1886, was reimagined and redesigned for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition and features a large collection of Art Deco buildings, sculptures and murals, making it one of the largest and best-preserved examples in all of the United States.)
We’ll meet *BEHIND* Big Tex at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. And then gather in the shade nearby. (You should see the heels of his boots.)
The big group Polaroid photo will be snapped at the 2:30 p.m. meet-up.
[Stay tuned for any updates to these times. Any updates will be posted one week before PolaCon begins.]
Each meet-up time, we will gather and wait about 13-15 minutes to meet each other and chat while we wait for stragglers, before we walk.
Attendees should feel free to stay with the group or to wander off and choose their own adventure until the next meet-up time.
All cameras welcome, however entries in the Instant Film Scavenger Hunt at the fair require instant film photography for submissions.
A ticket to PolaCon is NOT needed to join us for this annual PolaWalk. But a ticket to the State Fair is needed to enter Fair Park.
After the State Fair, Friday night, we’ll have a welcome party and bands performing at Rubber Gloves.
Since it’s the fair’s Opening Day, they will offer some sort of donation-based discount. (Usually 1 or 2 canned or bottled goods.) Watch here in the event page for a link to the 2025 discounts as soon as the fair posts them.
