The ThunderBOLT Fun Run was established in 2011 and is held each year in August during the Alumni/Reunion Weekend. The event features a 1-mile fun run/walk and a 5K and will be held once again at Holmes Lake Park. (Meeting at Shelter 1)
The Fun Run is open to everyone - alumni, children, students, parents, grandparents and any and all friends of Pius X are encouraged to participate. A special prize will be awarded for the best showing of Pius X pride and spirit by a Running Thunderbolt.
The funds raised from this event help to build the ThunderBOLT Fun Run endowment, which provides a yearly grant to a special project of a Pius X academic department or school sponsored club or activity. This year $2650 in grant money will be awarded to our Instrumental Music Department, Student Council, Theology and National honor Society! Thanks also to the participants and sponsors, Pius X also has a newer mascot!
Prizes will also be awarded to the first three boy and girl finishers in the 1 mile, along with the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, and the top finishers (male and female) in each age division (13 & under, 14-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70 and 71+).
A prize for Best Reunion Class Participation will also be awarded as well as the most outrageously dressed participant showing off their green and gold Pius X Spirit!
