Norwich based multi-instrumentalist Chubaby released their new album Almost Unbearable in June 2025. Peddling social commentary and surrealist storytelling through a DIY, low-fi tradition akin to R Stevie Moore, Jeffrey Lewis and The Moldy Peaches this eight track album is available on streaming platforms and a limited edition 12” vinyl.Almost Unbearable travels through the everydayness of modern life and the drudgery of wage work, and finds grandeur in the mundane. From the bright funk riffs of ‘Random Vacation’ to the vast synth sound of ‘Mullet Maintenance (Is In Order)’ and the soft melancholy of title track 'Almost Unbearable', the album builds to a wry and unapologetic meditation on the contemporary experience. Ahead of the album, Chubaby has released three new singles with Mookin Records.
Chubaby has previously worked with Breakfast Records and Simula Records in Bristol, and performed in Melbourne, Brooklyn and Berlin alongside acts like Micachu & The Shapes (Mica Levi), Garden Centre, and Cannonball Statman (NYC).
