About this Event
Join The New Macclesfield School of Art's Director Becca Smith for a drawing and discovery workshop, delving into Macclesfield's history. St Michael's church and the Savage Chapel display fascinating stone carvings of symbols, gargoyles and grotesques. There are soot-blacked stones from industrial days, fallen angels and mysterious windows. Becca will provide you with drawing boards, paper and drawing materials and guide you in using them to create quick, expressive and atmospheric images. Will you spot the King, the Unicorn and the laughing Lion?
This event is for adults and children aged 8 upwards, but younger artists can join if they wish. All drawing abilities and experiences welcome. Chairs for seating will be available for those not able to stand, the area we will be drawing from is wheelchair accessible and there will be quiet areas round the back of the Savage Chapel to draw, away from noise and crowds. Participants with sight loss are welcome and will be guide in drawing texture, tactile carvings and detailed verbal descriptions
