Three Apostles. Three Wines. Three Chocolates.
About this Event

Three apostles, three wines, three chocolates.

Author Melanie Rigney, supported by Meg Gilroy, bring an innovative and humorous approach to meeting three of the apostles featured in her new book, . In pairing an apostle with a wine and chocolate selected to reflect a characteristic or impression of the individual, we are reminded of their humanity and foibles (just like us).

Did we mention that the book has a cheat sheet of the twelve apostles so you can try this at home?

A bit about the book:

Thomas doubted. Peter denied. James and John jockeyed for status. Nathanael questioned whether anything good could come out of Nazareth. The apostles--icons of faith, pillars of the Church--were ordinary men with extraordinary flaws. And yet, Jesus took them as they were and led them to change the world. This powerful book offers a fresh and deeply personal look at the Twelve. Through scripture and Sacred Tradition, Unforgettable Men of the Gospels uncovers their unique strengths, moments of weakness, and the courageous faith that transformed them into saints. Each chapter brings what we know about their stories to life, exploring what made them remarkable and how their gifts still resonate today.

About the author:

Melanie Rigney loves almost nothing better than talking and writing about faith and grace. Her book, Unforgettable Women of the Gospels (Twenty-third Publications, January 2024), focuses on eight unnamed women who encountered Jesus in the Gospels and what we can learn from them. A Twenty-third sister company, Creative Communications, recently published a booklet by Melanie, Praying with St. Bernadette of Lourdes: 15 Reflections on Living a Life of Virtue.

Melanie’s other books include Radical Saints: 21 Women for the 21st Century; Woman of Worth: Prayers and Reflections for Women Inspired by the Book of Proverbs; and Menopause Moments: A Journal for Nourishing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit in Midlife. She is best known for her page-a-day devotionals, Sisterhood of Saints and Brotherhood of Saints, and as a regular contributor to Living Faith, Women in the New Evangelization (WINE). She lives in Arlington, Virginia.
