12 Miles Uptown will be a live site-specific fusion of dance, jazz music, and theatricality. This multidisciplinary production about community, culture, and immigration will immerse audiences in Upper Manhattan’s history during the 1920's, and reflect how our present-day parallels and diverges from our past in its diversity and multiculturalism one hundred years later.
This world premiere production will be for and by the Inwood and Washington Heights community, featuring Uptown-based dance artists, jazz quartet, and creative team.
Directed and Choreographed by Julia Bengtsson
Music Direction and Arrangements by Brian Morales
Produced by Aaron Simms
Beer, wine, soda, and water available for purchase.
Proceeds Benefit Good Shepherd School.
