Come join us in a FREE day of frivolity as we replenish our Nationally Certified Butterfly Sanctuary at The Butterfly Bar @The VORTEX. Over the past decade, we have actively cultivated butterfly vines, fed the caterpillars, and watched them emerge from their chrysalises as butterflies of many varieties. Celebrate with neighbors and friends of The VORTEX with a day of art, planting, live music, and renewal of the Earth. Bring a butterfly plant to add to our butterfly garden. Live Music with jazz quartet The Texas Moaners, Djamberry Caravan, and Johnny Holden. Opportunities for plantings and education. Kids will love the Tiny Tails to You Petting Zoo (from 3 to 4:30pm). Arts and crafts kits provide hands-on opportunities for people to create their own butterfly-inspired artworks. The Butterfly Bar will be serving Garden inspired cocktails. Physically distanced seating and safety protocols in effect!
-Everyone must be masked when moving about the compound.

-Limited people per table
-All of our seating is distanced from other tables
-We are limiting attendance to the amount of open tables we have. If we reach max capacity, we will let people enter as soon as some exit.
-The crafts are going to be set up to take to your own table.
-We encourage folks to stay at their tables unless they're grabbing a craft kit, planting a plant with Alex, or have been called for their turn at the petting zoo.
Donations of butterfly-friendly plants are much appreciated. These native plants would be great additions to the sanctuary: Milkweed, Milkweed, Milkweed (for the Monarchs), Shrimp Plant, Verbena, Frogfruit, Gregg’s Mistflower, Yarrow, Zinnia, and Snap Dragon. Other plants that folks could also bring include Passion Vine, Coral Honey Suckle, Alamo Vine, Spicebush, Lantana, Sunflower, Flame Acanthus, Fire Bush, Bottlebrush, Bluebonnet, Indian Paintbrush, Salvia, Purple Coneflower, Turk’s Cap, Yucca (twist-leaf).
Pottery, potting soil, mulch, & compost are much appreciated donations.
