Heads up, folks - this class will sell out around July. Crazy - we know. Folks LOVE them some Christmas cookies! So sign up sooner than later for this Christmas class.

🎄 Ho-ho-holy cute sugar cookies! 🎅 Sugar Cookie Classes is here to help you impress Santa himself! In this 1.5-hour-long class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies, you'll get our royal icing and cookie recipe, and we'll talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with two live, in-person instructors.

You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, credits, DIY Kits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us!

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! And if you're just looking to have a little sugar-filled fun on a Saturday, you're welcome too! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We will be doing a fun Santa's Sugar Christmas-themed set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve learned all the basic skills to get started in sugar.

📦 We provide everything you'll need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - ☝ we just need YOU!

This class is on Saturday, December 7 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm - 1.5 hours feels like a lot of time, but I promise we'll need it. 📅 Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating up to 10 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

🧒 This class is good for ages 8+, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase a DIY add-on kit at check-out! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself! Heads up - you can purchase just the DIY kits at Eventbrite check-out, you are not required to attend a class to snag a DIY kit (you'll pick them up during the class though). 👇 More details below.

🤔 What will I be doing in the class?

• Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.

🤔 Do you offer a virtual class? How about private classes?

• This year we will not be offering virtual and private classes 😢 - but we do have some bakers we can recommend you reach out to - email us at [email protected] and I'll connect you!

🤔 Can I purchase an additional DIY Kit if I'm attending the class?

• Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it!

🤔 I'm not attending the class - can I still purchase a DIY Kit?

• Yes! Check out on Eventbrite - set your class ticket to 0 and add as many DIY kits as you'd like to purchase. You'll pick them up during the class - we'll leave them towards the front for an easy grab-n-go!

🤔 Do I need to know how to bake?

• Nope! We will have the cookies pre-made for you and will give you the recipe in an email after class so you can create your own on your own!

🤔 What will we learn in class?

• You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies, how to color icing, and tricks to fill piping bags (believe me, it’s harder than it looks). You’ll also learn different decorating techniques such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Techniques will vary depending on the class and can be customized to your needs.

🤔 What do I need to bring?

• Nothing! Everything will be provided for you including our rather tasty sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint, so if you wear seeing glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well.

🤔 What age is best for cookie classes?

• Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 12 will need a parent to take the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase a take-home DIY kit! We'll send you the class PPT and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.

🤔 Can just my child take the class? Or do I have to purchase a ticket too?

• We ask that all parents also purchase a ticket and attend the classes with their children under 12. For children over 12, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 1.5 hours. Due to COVID space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So no - a child under 12 cannot take the class alone, a parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well - but we can promise you this - it's super fun for all involved!

🤔 What will I bring home?

• By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24-48 hours in your own box. You'll take your leftover icings as well, and we usually include a fun bag of goodies to take with ya. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

🤔 Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

• You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 10 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!

🤔 Can you teach a private class for me and my friends?

• Currently, we aren't offering private classes; however, you and 9 friends could purchase all ten class tickets and turn our public class into a private one!

🤔 Where are the classes located?

• This class will be held at the Heartland Design Studio in McLean, VA - that address is 6712 Old McLean Village Dr, Unit A, McLean, VA 22101.

🤔 I signed up for a class but can't make it - what do I do?

• We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class for a full refund. You can also transfer your spot to a friend (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 1 year from the credit issue date. No shows don't get refunds or credits - so try to make it, or send someone else instead!

📌 Our classes are based in Northern Virginia and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you want a fun date, a girls-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - 🪑 we have a spot for you.

👓 All you will need to bring is yourself, and we take care of the rest. If you'd like, grab an apron, and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself), already-made icing, as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate.

⏰ Our classes are an hour and a half. That will give us enough time to decorate the cookies and answer any questions along the way. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

Our classes are always changing! We have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!

Note - our classes no longer require masks for vaccinated individuals. Our classes follow the current recommendations by the Virginia government and health organizations.

😷 You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! We provide masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant, thermometers, and disinfectant wipes for attendees. Each station is disinfected along with the venue.

⚠️ If you're sick - here's our cancelation policy. Note - if you don't cancel before 7 days, you qualify for a class credit. If you don't email before class starts to let us know you can't make it, we are unable to process a credit - so ensure you've email ahead of class start time!

🗓️ If need to cancel 7+ days before class:

• If you can't make it because plans changed or if you’re sick prior to the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for sittin' this one out. To request a refund through Eventbrite, follow these steps. You can also email us at [email protected].

🗓️ If need to cancel 6 days before class starts:

• No sweat - life happens - you qualify for a class credit! Email us at [email protected] and we'll issue you a class credit to be used up to 1 year after it's issued. That will also apply to a DIY Kit if you purchased one as well.

🚗 You can't make it the day of class, and you've email before class starts:

• Car troubles? Traffic on 66? Email us before your class's start time. While we can't offer a refund or a credit, we can box up your class supplies and schedule a time for you to porch pick-up the box to decorate at home. Note - we can't guarantee freshness for unsealed class cookies.

📨 You don't show up or email prior to class:

• If we do not hear from you 1 day before your class’s start time, you don't email before class, and you do not show up for class, we won’t be able to offer you a refund, credit, or porch-pick-up. 😞 So please reach out to us before your class starts!

✌️ You purchased BOTH a Class Take-Home Kit and a Class Ticket and need to cancel:

• If you purchased both a class ticket and a take-home kit and emailed prior to the 7-day refund policy, we'll be happy to offer you either a full refund or a class credit for both your class ticket and DIY kit. If it's after the 7-day cut-off, we can offer you a class credit and DIY Kit credit. Once class starts, you can no longer receive a credit or refund for your tickets and DIY kit - but you CAN send a family member to pick them up for you! They'll need to pick them up before class ends, otherwise the left-over product will be donated.

📦 Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! Our class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and we'll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Sugar Cookie Class DIY Kits are assembled for you before your class starts, and you'll take them with you after class.

🎟️ Save money! You don't need to purchase an in-person class ticket to order a DIY Kit either! If you want to skip the in-person instruction, you can just order a DIY kit (or 5, hey, don't mind). It'll be ready for pick-up during the in-person class (11:00 - 12:30 PM), and you can swing by and snag it from the table near the door (6712 Old McLean Village Dr., Suite A, McLean, VA 22101). They're a great option if you're lookin' for something to let the kids do at home or if our classes are sold out. 😭

Each Cookie Class DIY Kit includes:

• ✅ A Toothpick (Scribe substitute)
• ✅ Sprinkles (if required)
• ✅ The Class PowerPoint steps (emailed)
• ✅ The Dough and Icing recipes (emailed)

⏰ How long can a kit last after I get home? Depending on how you store your icing (you know, fridge vs freezer), your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies and icing keeps them fresh for a long time, but we recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home.

⚠️🥚 Allergens: Eggs, gluten, and nuts are present in the kitchen used to bake these cookies and icing. Please consider your allergies before registering.

🧀 Say Cheese! Photos are taken throughout class (and posted to our Facebook page so you can see them too). Camera shy? 📸 No sweat! Just let us know it's a camera no-no.

💵 Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your Eventbrite fees; 💵 however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees if you need to cancel. If you cancel your ticket for a refund, we'll give you a refund minus those Eventbrite fees - since we don't get this back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel.😭

❄ If We Cancel Class: In the event of inclement weather or if an instructor has car issues (blaming you, I95), you'll receive a GIANT apology and a full refund regardless of the cut-off time for refunds. Weather events are called on a case-by-case basis, but know we'll reach out to keep you updated if Mother Nature is havin' a bad morning.

🚘 Fear of navigating new parking lots? No sweat - Here's the parking diagram. You'll come from Old McLean Village Dr. into a collection of brown brick commercial buildings. We're in the alcove closest to Old Chain Bridge Road. There's plenty of parking - it's free, just snag what you can see.
