About this Event

RCSI’s 10th annual Teddy Bear Hospital will be on February 24th and 25th 2024. Teddy Bear Hospital will be held at the RCSI 123 St.Stephens Green campus in the Exam hall.

Teddy Bear Hospital is a free event that aims to alleviate childhood fears about healthcare environments and increase health literacy in school-aged children. This event is aimed at children aged 4-10 though children outside those ages are encouraged to come if parents feel it would be of benefit or if a family wishes to attend with older siblings. Older children for whom this event would be developmentally appropriate are welcome to the Sunday session where we will have a higher ratio of volunteers to children.

The event is volunteer-led and run by medical, physiotherapy, Ph*rm*cy, and Advanced Technology Technician students from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Our students are all interested in working with children and providing a fun interactive experience for all attending. The event will consist of several stations for your Teddy to visit. We encourage all children to attend with their teddy bears so that the teddies can get their annual check-ups, fix any rips or tears, and learn how to keep healthy. There will be 13 different stations that teach children and their teddies about different aspects of healthcare such as surgery, food and nutrition, first aid and so much more!

As at all of our Teddy Bear Hospital events, we always have a charity we will raise funds for on the day. This year is no different and we will be raising funds for our joint charity partners, Cians Kennels and the Ronald McDonald House Ireland.

The mission of RMHC Ireland is to provide support to families whose children are seriously ill in hospital. The Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation and a caring and supportive environment for families whose children are seriously ill and hospitalised or undergoing medical treatment at Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin.

Cian's Kennels aim to 'bring pets closer to sick children and their families'. They facilitate transport for pets and have a newly opened visiting centre located at the back of St. John's Ward at Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin - This is right in front of the Ronald McDonald House.

To make a small donation please choose an amount to pay for your ticket. All proceeds from the event will aid our two chosen charities - Cian's Kennels and RMHC Ireland. No donation is required to attend so please avail of a free ticket if you so choose. We will also have cash donations as an option on the day. The prize list will be released one week before the event.

Those who donate (in person or online) will be entered into a raffle prize draw to have the chance to win various prizes on the day! If you wish to obtain further information or make a donation and enter our raffle but do not wish to purchase a ticket you can do so at: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/RCSITBH2024

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our events and our charities for 2023-2024, Cian's Kennels and RMHC Ireland.
