The Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) is excited to announce the upcoming Holiday Hoopla, a fundraising event aimed at supporting students pursuing career technical education (CTE) after high school. This year’s event, in collaboration with the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation, and Keweenaw Young Professionals, will take place on Thursday, December 12th at The Bonfire. This event features a silent auction from which the proceeds will go directly to the Copper Shores-KEDA CTE Scholarship program. This year’s auction will have over 40 items including several unique items crafted by the CCISD and high school CTE students. The silent auction opens online Friday, December 6th at noon and can be accessed through the following link: https://new.biddingowl.com/KeweenawHolidayHoopla. Bidding closes in person the night of the Holiday Hoopla at 8:00 pm. Please note you do not need to register to view the items but if you wish to bid on items you must register. Registration is completely free. Registration collects contact information only and allows for notification of activity on an item you have bid on. Winning bidders will be notified by email with payment for the winning bid made directly to KEDA at the time the item is picked up. Pick up instructions are noted at the bottom of each item description.
Since its inception in 2013 the CTE scholarship program has continued to grow. In 2020 KEDA partnered with the Portage Health Foundation, now Copper Shores, to manage and expand the scholarship program and ensure that one graduating senior from each of the high schools in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties and the Horizons High School has
available a $1,000 scholarship to pursue a certificate, one- or two-year career technical education program.
This annual silent auction is made possible by the generous support of the community, the many businesses that have donated items, and the school districts and Copper Country ISD CTE classes that have built items specifically to support this skilled trade auction.
Join in on the fun December 12th with live music, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar & the silent auction. Admission to the event is $35 and guests are encouraged to pre-register. Tickets available via the link in this event or through the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce website.
