About this Event
Sunday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. the Washington Park Conservancy and the City of Albany invite residents to join the 10th annual Albany Lantern Parade in Washington Park. This free, family friendly event showcases community, creativity, and neighbors coming together from across the Capital Region to illuminate a chilly evening. At 4:30, participants will start to gather at the Lake House and will begin to walk around the lake at 5:15p. We look forward to welcoming Albany High School musicians back to the program this year! Refreshments will be shared in front of the Lake House after the walk.
"We’re walking with lanterns to share some light as the days become shorter,” said Sarah Read, the event’s organizer. “It’s beautiful to see this become a tradition, something people look forward to attending.”
Don’t have a lantern? Check out the Albany Public Library's calendar of events for free lantern-making workshops. Paper bags will be available to color on the day of the event as well.
Please note, for safety of one another and the environment, all lanterns will be hand-held, not released into the sky or lake. Battery-operated tealight candles will be available for use.
To learn more about the event, please visit Albany Lantern Parade's Facebook page or email lantern parade organizer Sarah Read at [email protected].
This event is co-sponsored by the City of Albany and the Washington Park Conservancy. The Conservancy is a non-profit organization formed in 1985 that helps the city restore, preserve, and maintain Albany’s historic Washington Park.
