It is a long-held tradition by many to practice 108 Sun Salutations to commemorate and celebrate the change of the seasons.The idea is to set intentions for the new year and to get (old) energy moving. Anyone who’s ever done just 2-3 sun salutations knows how much heat, and energy, you can build up. Doing multiple sun salutations in a row allows you to methodically and intentionally move through the flow. You get to find your rhythm and let things – emotions, physical pain and thoughts, move through you instead of just cycling them over and over again.
The internal heat that you build while practicing Sun Salutations is one of cleansing, detoxifying, grounding and also gets you in tune with yourself. Although there are many benefits to practicing 108 Sun Salutations, we will focus on Energy Transfer and Surrendering to the Process, while setting intentions and letting go of what no longer serves us.
***Energy Movement and Transfer***
Sun Salutations heat the physical body and activates Prana (life force). The intense activity assists in the creation (and movement of) energy; as well as emotions that you may be harboring or are stuck.
***Surrender to the Process***
Practicing 108 Sun Salutations can be a great challenge, but modifications are welcomed! At several points throughout this celebration, you will surrender to the process. You will acknowledge the emotion, and subsequently let it go.

This practice is adaptable and can be modified and an advanced yoga practice is not needed however, this is a long practice and previous yoga experience is recommended.
