It has become a tradition to complete 108 Surya Namaskar on the first day of the solstice. The winter solstice, also called hibernal solstice, the longest night of the year, marks the start of winter, but also marks the start of days getting longer. The repetitive practice of moving through 108 sun salutations creates a moving meditation, providing yogis the space to reflect, manifest, let go, and create a new and refreshed sense of well-being for the changing seasons.During the winter solstice 108 Sun Salutations can be particularly alluring as the repetitive process will build tapas and provide yogis the space to burn off impurities and set new intentions.
Following the 108 we will share in a short Yoga Nidra practice. Yoga Nidra is a form of systematic, guided meditation. In this practice you will follow verbal cues which lead you through the layers of consciousness leaving you feeling a deep sense of wholeness, relaxation, rejuvenation, and ease. This practice is done in supported Savasana, or corpse pose, allowing you to be completely relaxed so you can dive deeper into yourself.
Workshop fee $40. Class time 120 minutes. Sorry, no refunds. Cancellation greater than 24 hours prior to class can be applied to a future workshop.
