About this Event
Join us for a celebration of the 1925 publication of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald featuring a performance and analysis of the music that Fitzgerald uses in the novel to heighten the narrative and embellish the 1920s Jazz Age. Featuring Denny Berthiaume on piano and Bob Farrington on woodwind.
Denny Berthiaume (piano) and Bob Farrington (sax, flute, and clarinet) have been performing as a jazz duo for several years, but they go back 40 years playing together in big bands, Broadway shows, and celebrity shows. Denny is a retired English professor from Foothill College, hence his knowledge and interest in The Great Gatsby, and Bob is the retired Director of Bands at De Anza College.
Sponsored by San Francisco Musicians Union Local 6, The Music Performance Trust Fund and the San Mateo Public Library.
