Families are invited to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Kickoff Party with the Powell Library on Monday, September 22nd at 10:30 a.m. in the Heart Mountain Hall Meeting Room at the Park County Fairgrounds! The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000-book goal in three years and provide their children with essential early literacy skills.
Research shows that the most reliable predictor of school success is being read to during early childhood. Reading to children from an early age can help close the vocabulary gap and prepare children to enter kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed.
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is available to all families with children between the ages of birth and five years old. This program is free of charge and there is no need to sign-up to attend the kickoff party. For more information, please call the Powell Library at (307) 754-8828 or stop by the circulation desk.
***Please note that if you have already been participating in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program and are going to still be participating, please let us know by closing on Friday, September 5th as we are in the process of updating the program.
**** The Powell Library is located in Homesteader Hall at the Park County Fairgrounds (655 E. 5th St.)
