On World Op Shop Day, Saturday 18 October 2025, Uniting Op Shops are hosting a one-day treasure hunt you wonโt want to miss. This year marks a big milestone, 100 years since the term โop shopโ was first coined in Australia.
Across our shops, 100 special items will be up for grabs for just $1 each. Look for the price tags marked with a gold sticker. These high-value treasures are waiting for lucky shoppers to uncover.
In the lead up to the day weโll be posting hints of the items here in the event and on our stories so be sure to follow along ๐

In the 1920s, Lady Millie Tallis introduced the name โop shopโ as a dignified and powerful way to give pre-loved goods a new life while raising funds for St Vincentโs Hospital. Since then, op shops have become a uniquely Australian and New Zealand tradition, blending sustainability, creativity and community impact.
Visit your local Uniting Op Shop on 18 October and see if you can uncover a $1 treasure. Every purchase helps reduce waste, extend the life of clothing and goods, and support community programs.
One day. 100 treasures. $1 each. Celebrate history. Hunt for treasure. Discover the magic of op shops โจ๐
*Please note the treasure hunt is only at Uniting Op Shops, not Uniting Church or community op shops.
