1-Day Workshop with Ajahn Brahmali (FOR BF MEMBERS ONLY)

Topic: Meditate Like the Earth - based on Maharahulovada Sutta
Date: Saturday, 27 Dec 2025

Time: 9am - 5pm SGT

Venue: BF Centre, 310 Lavender St (S338815)

Join this one-day workshop, conducted by Ajahn Brahmali, to discover the Buddha's profound teaching to his son Rāhula and to explore practical meditation instructions from the Mahārāhulovāda Sutta.

In the Sutta, the Buddha corrects Rāhula for his conceit, giving him the memorable simile of being equanimous like the earth. This sutta brings together various core meditation subjects in one place, including body contemplation, the divine abidings, and mindfulness of breathing.

Whether you're new to the teachings or deepening your spiritual path, this workshop offers a warm and grounded space to reconnect with the essential Dhamma.

About the Teacher

𝐀𝐣𝐚𝐡𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐚̄𝐥𝐢 is a highly respected Buddhist monk and teacher, known for his clarity, calm presence and deep grounding in the early teachings of the Buddha. Born in Norway, he first became interested in Buddhism and meditation in his early 20s, while on a visit to Japan. He later ordained in Australia under Ajahn Brahm at Bodhinyana Monastery. 2025 is Ajahn Brahmāli’s 29th year as a Buddhist monk.

Ajahn Brahmāli is renowned for his excellent knowledge of the Pali language and his enthusiasm for teaching the suttas. He is also well known as a scholar of the Vinaya—the monastic rules and procedures—which he has translated to English and is currently translating into Finnish. Ajahn Brahmāli’s clear and insightful talks help make the Buddha’s teachings accessible to all. His explanations often make the teachings feel fresh, practical and deeply relevant to modern life.

Ajahn Brahmāli has also published numerous essays on important points of Dhamma, including the legitimacy of bhikkhuni ordination, of which he is a supporter. He received an honorary doctorate degree in Buddhist Studies from Maha Chulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya University in Thailand in December 2022. Ajahn Brahmāli travels widely to offer retreats, meditation guidance and Dhamma talks.
