It may be all sunshine and rainbows in Hawaii but who says we can't get our cookie snowman game on? Let the cookie magic begin!
About this Event

Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! King's Sweet Things is here to help! In this 1.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and if there's time, we'll even cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be building a sugary snowman, and you’ll be able to dress him up how you’d like--there’s “snow” way you’ll want to miss this class!

We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!

This class is on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 6 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

This class is great for ages 8 and up, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!

The class will be held at the House of Savon in Hawaii Kai, HI, located at 6600 Kalanianole Hwy, Ste 113, Honolulu, HI 96825. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy - there's plenty of open stalls in the center, where the old Outback Steakhouse used to be and where. You'll see Central Pacific Bank and from there, walk through the walkway until you hit the far left corner--voila!

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

· Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).

· Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.

· Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!

· Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!

· Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

Cancellation / Refund / Sick Policy

Our classes follow the current recommendation by the Honolulu government and health organizations.

Class Masking Policy:

You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! I provide masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant, and wipes for attendees. Each station is disinfected along with the venue before and after your event.

If You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:

If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or roll you into the next class even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!

DIY / Add-On Kits

Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.

Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, butter vanilla emulsion, cornstarch, butter, salt. Royal icing includes the following ingredients: meringue powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, butter vanilla emulsion, corn syrup, white food gel coloring.

Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: wheat, eggs, peanuts.

Please consider your allergies before registering.

**

Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancellation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back, either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it, too.
