About this Event

Can you learn over 5000 years of local history in just 90 minutes? We think not. But your Guide, James, will give you a informative introduction to different aspects along the walk. This should allow you a fascinating insight to the subject and maybe whet your appetite to delve deeper…

James will introduce you to:
* the Saxon settlement;
* the Norman fort;
* who the Quarr were;
* gold and axes found in what is now HMS Sultan;
* how important Rowner was for two medieval kings;
* the birth of naval flying instruction and innovative inventions;
* a quickview of the WW1 Training Trenches (only if weather time and weather permits)
and much more

On each Saturday the walk will conclude with a pop-in at Rowner Youth Arts and Media Centre (AKA The Youthy) for peek at their exhibition about the Rowner Estate spanning some 6 decades. People are welcome to stay there to enjoy The Youthy event in full or follow the Guide back to the start point.

On each Sunday the walk concludes back at the start point.
