The Tipton County school year is now underway, and the safety of our children, educators, and community remains our top priority. Recent events, such as the active shooter incident at Fort Gordon, GA, remind us that preparedness is not optional—it’s essential.
This month’s CERT meeting will focus on active shooter response and survival using FEMA’s free online course, IS-907.a: Active Shooter – What You Can Do. This nationally recognized training equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to:
• Recognize the signs of potential violence
• Understand the “Run, Hide, Fight” response strategy
• Respond decisively to protect yourself and others
• Work effectively with law enforcement during and after an incident
✅ We strongly encourage all CERT members to complete this free FEMA course before the meeting so we can build on its lessons together. You can take the course online at any time here: FEMA IS-907.a: Active Shooter – What You Can Do.
📅 When: Fourth Monday of the month – 6:30 PM
📍 Where: Atoka City Hall
đź‘• Dress: Wear your Tipton County CERT shirt
Let’s come together to ensure we are ready to protect our community—because preparedness saves lives.
