October 1 is World Postcard Day! This day began in 2019 to mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard. Every year, postcard enthusiasts gather to celebrate the occasion, creating special postcards and stamps! Celebrate with us by attending this Geocaching Event and receive a souvenir on your profile to honor the occasion!
Postcards In Space!
You will have the opportunity to create individual postcards to not only tie in with the event theme, but also provide the possibility to create your own "flown in space" trackable. There is a private space company that currently flies postcards on their flights and will stamp them "flown in space" upon return and mail them back to you. From there, if you want to turn your postcard into a trackable, you will have the option to do so via the regular Groundspeak process.
Bring a postcard, or use a provided template to create your own; there will be directions and mailing instructions available. There is no obligation to participate in the postcard aspect of the event, but if you want to send them to space via the program instructions available, the space company asks that you put a return stamp with your address on the postcard and mail it to them ahead of time. So, there is a minor postage cost if you opt to do that part.
There is no cost to attend the event, and you are under no obligation to purchase anything from the establishment, but the food and beverages are good stuff! Attendees will be responsible for their own purchases. As with all of our events, everyone is welcome and we encourage new players to join in!

We shall gather at Cancun Mexican Grill & Bar at Cedar Bluff from 6-8 pm. 251 Harry Lane Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37923. A few door prizes will be given away.
