Participants must be registered in advance – space is limited
Race day weigh-in 5:00 – 5:45 PM | Races begin at 6:00 PM
Categories
1. Official Rules Race
This category follows traditional Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby standards. Cars racing in this category will be inspected and weighed prior to racing.
Car Dimensions
• Maximum length: 7 inches
• Maximum width (including wheels): 2¾ inches
• Minimum clearance under car: 3/8 inch
• Minimum wheelbase width (between wheels): approximately 1¾ inches
Weight
• Maximum weight: 5.0 ounces (141.7 grams)
• The official race scale at weigh-in is final
Materials & Construction
• Use the official Pinewood Derby kit block with official wheels and axles supplied in the kit that you received when registering.
• Wheel bearings, washers, bushings, springs, or similar enhancements are prohibited
• Cars must be free-wheeling, gravity-powered, with no starting devices or propulsion systems
2. *Crowd Favorite
An open-format category celebrating creativity. There are no design or material restrictions.
• The car must successfully travel down the track at least once but does not need to win a race to win the category.
3. *Best Paint Job
• The car must successfully travel down the track at least once but does not need to win a race to win the category.
*The audience will vote to choose the winners for categories 2 & 3.
