For the month of December we are doing our annual Book Exchange in place of our usual meeting! No one is required to attend, but please make sure you read the following fully if you plan to attend:
Do you have a book you have absolutely loved reading this year? Share the love with fellow readers in a silent book club exchange! We will meet at Stir Coffee Co.
*How it Works*
1. Please wrap one book (new or used, but in good condition please), and write a spoiler free summary to put in the front of the book. Think "blind-date-with-a-book" style. *If there are heavy triggers, please put trigger warnings*
2. From 8:30 - 9:00 people will be bringing in their wrapped books, ordering a treat from the coffee shop, and/or mingling. If you are participating in the book exchange, bring your wrapped book and place it on the table with the host (Heather). You will be given a picture.
3. From 9:00 - 10:00 we will exchange! I will hold up a picture and if it matches your picture, then it is your turn to come pick a book! You may read the summary. Once you choose, you may go sit down and unwrap your book. This will continue until everyone has a book! I will go last.
4. After you pick your book and unwrap it, you may start reading it if you like.
5. From 10:00 - 10:30 you all may mingle, or even exchange books with each other if you really want to! I will have a few extra books on hand as well, in case of need. You may bring extra UNWRAPPED books to exchange at the end if you like.
6. If you receive a book you do not think you will like, or one you have already read, you can exchange it with me (Heather), exchange with someone else, or donate it to the shelf at Stir (give a book, take a book).
****Important Rules****
❄️New or Gently Used books only! No browning pages, no rips or tears.
⛄You must write a small summary to put on the outside of the wrapper! Try to keep it very generic: genre, very basic plot without spoilers, relate it to a similar book, etc. Trigger warnings if needed.
🌨️You cannot choose your own book!
🌲I will be monitoring the books via messenger. Please send me (Heather) a message with the book you plan to wrap (title and author, and a picture of the physical book if you are unsure of quality) before the event so I can keep track. This is mostly to make sure I know who all is participating. **Do NOT post the book you will wrap to the group please!**
🎁Be kind! Someone loves the book that you will open. If it isn't your cup of tea, that's okay! You can of course read it if you like, but if you feel very strongly you can exchange it with me or someone else, or donate it. This is about sharing our love of books with each other!
🦌If you come to the meeting and are not participating in the book exchange, you can still read nearby from 9:00 - 10:00!
