🌿 February Nature School
Trail Confidence & Safety: Learning the AllTrails App
Join us for our February Nature School as we learn one of the most important outdoor skills: how to confidently find, choose, and navigate trails using the AllTrails app.
Many people avoid hiking or walking trails—not because they don’t want to go, but because they’re unsure where to start, which trails are right for them, or how to stay safe. This experience is designed to change that.
We’ll meet at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, one of the best trail systems in the area, and learn together in a relaxed, supportive way.
What we’ll explore:
- How to use the AllTrails app to find trails near you
- Understanding trail distance, elevation, difficulty, and surface
- Reading reviews, photos, and recent trail conditions
- Choosing trails that match your energy level and comfort
- Basic trail safety and confidence-building tips
- Practicing navigation during an easy, guided walk
This is not about hiking fast, going far, or pushing yourself.
It’s about learning how to make informed choices so you can enjoy the outdoors with confidence—whether you’re walking close to home or exploring somewhere new.
Who this is for:
- Beginners or anyone who feels unsure on trails
- Women who want to feel safer and more confident outdoors
- Anyone who enjoys learning while walking at an easy pace
Please download the AllTrails app before arriving (free version is fine), wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water.
Weather Policy:
This event will take place unless it is raining or the temperature is below 30°F.If weather conditions require cancellation, participants will be notified in advance.
Come curious, come exactly as you are. Nature School is about learning together—one step at a time 🌿
