En parallèle de l'exposition Bulles, deux films seront projetés à la suite au théâtre Spadina :

A pleine voix : 

Saïda Ouchaou Ozarowski

Les femmes musulmanes dérangent, intriguent, polarisent, prises au piège dans un carcan forgé par un amalgame d’histoires à la une. Si les médias aiment à les dépeindre comme étant soumises et réduites au silence, la réalisatrice Saïda Ouchaou-Ozarowski a préféré s’éloigner de cette image caricaturale à laquelle elle ne s’identifie pas. Elle est allée à la rencontre de six Canadiennes de confession musulmane prêtes à discuter de ce qui a façonné leur identité. Le documentaire À pleine voix pose un regard intimiste sur le parcours de ces femmes, ayant comme point commun l’envie de partager leur vision de l’islam.

Plus le film avance, plus on constate que les protagonistes remettent non seulement en question nos perceptions envers ces communautés trop souvent stigmatisées, mais démontrent qu’au-delà de nos différences, nous sommes tous à la recherche de liberté et d’équité.

Ce documentaire hybride réunit cinéma vérité et narration expérimentale éthérée pour explorer la question “Où est-ce que j’appartiens ?” à travers le prisme de l’immigration noire moderne. Dans le film, on assiste à une conversation intime entre une future mère francophone d’origine martiniquaise basée à Toronto et le cinéaste, au cours de laquelle la jeune femme donne un sens à son identité après être devenue citoyenne canadienne, tout en approfondissant ce que signifie la communauté. Émue par une flopée d’émotions qu’elle n’avait pas anticipées au cours du tournage, la cinéaste répond à ce que ce film a éveillé en elle, à travers un poème visuel qu’elle raconte, tantôt en français, tantôt en créole, dans lequel elle réfléchit sur sa propre identité et son sens du lieu, en tant que Canadienne d’origine guadeloupéenne née en France.

Muslim women disturb, intrigue and polarize, trapped in a straitjacket forged by an amalgam of front-page stories. While the media like to portray them as submissive and silenced, director Saïda Ouchaou-Ozarowski preferred to distance herself from this caricatured image, with which she does not identify. She went to meet six Canadian women of the Muslim faith, ready to discuss what has shaped their identity. The documentary À pleine voix takes an intimate look at the journeys of these women, all of whom share a common desire to share their vision of Islam.

As the film progresses, we see that the protagonists not only challenge our perceptions of these too-often stigmatized communities, but demonstrate that beyond our differences, we are all in search of freedom and fairness.

This hybrid documentary combines cinéma vérité and ethereal experimental narrative to explore the question "Where do I belong?" through the prism of modern black immigration. In the film, we witness an intimate conversation between a French-speaking mother-to-be of Martinican descent based in Toronto and the filmmaker, during which the young woman makes sense of her identity after becoming a Canadian citizen, while delving deeper into what community means. Moved by a host of emotions she hadn't anticipated during the shoot, the filmmaker responds to what this film has awakened in her, through a visual poem she recounts, sometimes in French, sometimes in Creole, in which she reflects on her own identity and sense of place, as a Canadian of Guadeloupean origin born in France.
