About this Event

Join us for a day of celebration across both MOAH and MOAH:CEDAR as we open Metaphor, MOAH’s Spring 2026 exhibition season, alongside An Impossibly Normal Life, a new solo exhibition by Matthew Finley at MOAH:CEDAR. Both MOAH & MOAH:CEDAR locations will have exciting community activities that day.

You're invited to this free opening event, which includes live music by the Sunday Night Singers and the Antelope Valley Guitar Society, art activities, face painting, games, and a free hot chocolate bar provided by RefiSnacks, in addition to a first look at the new exhibitions. Food will also be available for purchase from on-site food trucks.

Experience the launch of Metaphor, an exhibition season featuring seven solo exhibitions and projects exploring visual metaphor, memory, identity, and collective experience. This season brings together artists who use symbolism and layered imagery to reveal complex stories about self, place, history, and imagination.

Enjoy an afternoon of:

  • Live music by Antelope Valley Guitar Society and the Sunday Night Singers
  • Art activities, games, & face painting
  • Hot Chocolate Bar provided by
  • On-site food trucks with food available for purchase

Nathan Huff: Heavy Hope
Main Gallery
Drawings, sculptures, and mixed-media installations that blend personal memory with unexpected narratives, pairing domestic and natural objects to spark conversations about meaning and interpretation.
Bachrun LoMele: Burn Pile / All Kinds of Murmuring Here and There
Atrium
A sculptural installation built from papier-mâché and faux-wood structures inscribed with randomized community “truths,” exploring the tension between fact and illusion.
Sharon Kagan: Bearing Witness
Ralph and Virginia Bozigian Family Gallery
A twenty-five-year survey of Kagan’s practice, exploring knitting as an allegory for human interconnectedness and intergenerational trauma across drawing, painting, installation, and performance.
Vojislav Radovanović: Fables from the Valley in Between

Whimsical dreamscapes where personal history merges with fantastical imagery, including works from the Bird Circuit series alongside new sculpture and installation.
Halftone Histories: Memory, Erasure, and Belonging by Francis C. Robateau Jr.
Moore Family Trust Gallery
Mixed-media works inspired by Belizean color, architecture, and the artist's diasporic experience that examine how cultural identity is formed, hidden, and rediscovered.

North Gallery
Intricate cut-paper forms made from banned books, drawing attention to censorship and the diverse voices it attempts to suppress.
Diane Briones Williams: The Precarious Life of the Parol
Joseph Stello Family Gallery + Jewel Box Gallery
Textile sculptures and installations celebrating Filipinx heritage while tracing the complex, often obscured colonial history of the parol, a traditional star lantern.

Step into the intimate photographic world of An Impossibly Normal Life by Matthew Finley. This solo exhibition is a tender, observational exploration of domesticity, care, tension, and the emotional currents of everyday life.

  • Field games in Cedar Hall
