Land’s Air is the duo of Eduardo Cossio and Josten Myburgh, two musicians based in Boorloo (Perth, Australia). They work in an idiosyncratic sound world brought forth by polyphony between alto saxophone, prepared & detuned zithers and electroacoustic extensions of both instruments. In performance they weave melodies, drones and concréte sounds amongst each other, working with emergent, intuitive microtonality, precise harmonies in just intonation, and tense noise-based passages.
The duo played fifteen shows in Europe in April/May 2023, touring the launch of their debut self-titled album on Boorloo-based record label Tone List. Performances included Vestafor Festival (Norway), MicroFest (Prague), Offene Ohren (Munich), EchoRaum (Vienna), Cafe Wolf (Graz) and MorphineRaum (Berlin). They have collaborated with other players including Axel Dörner, Emilio Gordoa, Jasmin Wing-Yin Leung, Sabine Vogel and Prague Quiet Music Collective.
